Richard and Nigel would like to Motel Strahan! Our team is here to assist you and ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The following guest directory outlines the services and amenities we offer. Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact Reception. For after hours enquires please go to the guest laundry and contact us on the phone there.
HOTEL FACILITIES
Accounts
Payment can be made by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. If you are settling your account with a credit card, please note that a credit card surcharge may apply.
Adaptors
The power points in your room operate on a 240volts (AC 50 cycles)
Adaptors are available from Reception.
Baby Facilities
Baby cots are available. Please contact Reception to arrange delivery before 7pm.
Car Parking
Designated car parking spaces are provided outside each motel room. You will be allocated a space on check-in.
Check-Out Time
We ask you to vacate your room by 10 am on the day of departure. A later departure may be available, however, a late check out fee may apply. Should you leave prior to 7.30 am on the day of departure, please contact Reception the day before to settle any accounts and arrange for key return.
Do Not Disturb
Please place your “Do Not Disturb” sign outside your motel room to ensure your privacy is upheld.
Please note your room will not be serviced if this sign is on your door.
Facsimile Service/Photocopying
A facsimile service is available at Reception.
Guest Laundry
For your convenience, there is a guest laundry located next to Reception.
Cost is $6.00 per load for guests to wash and dry. Detergent is also available.
Housekeeping
Should you have any special room servicing requirements such as a nominated time for servicing or additional linen, please contact Reception. Coat hangers, extra pillows, and blankets are placed in the wardrobes.
Keys
Please remember to keep your room with you at all times and ensure you lock all doors when you leave your motel room for security purposes. Two keys are available per motel room. Lost or unreturned keys will attract a fee.
Loss and Damage
All motel rooms are fully equipped with a standard inventory. Please report any breakages, missing items or damaged property.
Luggage Storage
We will be happy to assist you with baggage storage, please contact Reception.
Maintenance
Please contact Reception should there be any items requiring attention.
Noise After Dark
We ask that you please keep noise to a minimum and respect other guests, particularly after 10pm at night.

Smoking
All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is prohibited and smoke detectors will trigger the fire alarm.
Smoking in rooms will result in additional cleaning charge.
If you need to smoke on the property, please ensure it is away from rooms and does not affect any other guest. Ashtrays are provided for your use.

There is a fire extinguisher located outside the laundry for your safety.

This family business has been in operation since the 1940’s. A Talk and demonstration of the antique milling equipment is held every day at 3pm. No booking required. There’s also an amazing gift shop to pick up a hand crafted souvenir of our world famous Huon Pine. Don’t miss the Morrison Family History Room located on site.

7. WALK TO A WATERFALL – One of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks
Hogarth Falls: Peoples Park, Strahan (via the Esplande, or walk via the Foreshore walking track)
This walk will take you through an example of mixed forest with a beautiful waterfall at the end of the track. Among the towering gum trees, you will also find species typical of cool temperate rainforest, such as leatherwood, sassafras and myrtle. If you’re lucky you may even see a platypus.
Distance: 2.4Km (return)
Time: 40 – 50 mins
Difficulty level: Grade 2. No bushwalking experience necessary. A leisurely walk. Suitable for most ages.
Facilities: Public Toilets, free BBQ’s, undercover picnic area.
8. OCEAN BEACH – Tasmania’s longest beach (40km)
Just 6km out of Strahan on Ocean Beach Road is this amazing coastline. The seas that pound these shores arrive all the way from South America 10,000km away. Well worth a visit (swimming not recommended).

Ocean Beach MTB Trail
Low impact, shared trail. Ideal for cycling, walking, horses and the beginner mountain biker. With a car park at the trail head and magnificent Ocean Beach awaiting, the Ocean Beach Trail is perfect for families and those wanting to experience the fresh West Coast air and environment. Dog friendly (must be on a leash).
Distance: 2km (4km return)
Time : 1 Hour return
Location: The trail is accessed from Ocean Beach Road – Keep an eye out for the signage on your right-hand side.
Facilities: Free Car Park, Public toilets located in the township of Strahan.
9. VISIT 30m HIGH SAND DUNES
Henty Sand Dunes, 14km north of Strahan (on your way to/from Zeehan)
That’s right … 30m high and 15km long. The “Roaring Forties” winds from South America whip up these incredible leviathans. You can walk the 1.5km to Ocean Beach from the dunes.
Nice shady picnic area.
10. WALK TO A 50m HIGH WATERFALL
Horsetail Falls Walk, Queenstown
A large seasonal 50 metre waterfall at the foot of Mt Owen. Best seen after heavy rain. Fantastic mountain views. Dogs welcome (on leash).
Distance: 1km
Time: 30mins
Location: Lyell Highway (A10), 5Km from Queenstown.
Facilities: Free parking, public toilets located in Queenstown.
11.WALK TO THE HIGHEST WATERFALL IN TASMANIA – One of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks
Montezuma Falls, Rosebery
An easy walk, through rainforest, along the route of the historic North East Dundas Tramway. At 104m it’s the highest waterfall in Tasmania. Follow the track to the Falls’ base. Dogs welcome (on leash).
Distance: 8km (return)
Time: 3 hrs (return)
Level of Difficulty: Easy
Location: Off the A10, 2km south of Rosebery on the Murchison Highway.
Facilities: Public Toilets, free car park
12.VISIT THE GLOW WORM TUNNEL
Spray Tunnel, Zeehan
Established in 1889, The Silver Spray Mining Co used the tunnel to transport silver ore to smelters south of Zeehan. Closed in 1913, the area has historical relics of the west coast’s mining past. The glow worms are everywhere, and a real sight to see!
Distance: 100m
Time: 1 hour (return)
Location: 3.6Km from Zeehan. For the start of the walk, head north towards the end of town and turn left onto Fowler Street and follow it to the end past the golf course. The road into the car park is single-lane (not suitable for caravans).
